I’m in Lubbock and am so thankful to see us listed! We were told last year that Lubbock was on TDP list of top 15 counties to watch, but the overall support is sorely lacking. Kim Gonzalez and Josh Shankles were elected as the new CD 19 SDEC reps, and they are rockstars!
My focus is looking where there are trends. And when we see them, we work to exploit them and hurry them along. Lubbock is the kind of place that is red, but with sparks of blue, and it's up to us to nuture those sparks to make sure things continue. We may not be able to flip a place like Lubbock County this cycle, but it can be a key contributor to a broader win, and that gives even more momentum in the future.
This, thank you for highlighting Montgomery County. We get overlooked often because we are so red, but we have moved 10 points in 10 years, but we have also doubled in size as one of the largest counties (12th). If we can bump our numbers by even 5%, we know the rest of the state is coming with us!
But no support outside of our own people despite me banging on the table for my six years as chair and 4 more as a leader in the MCDP.
Yeah, quite a few counties had their slip moment in 2012, when people lost focus and didn't show up in the same kind of numbers as 2008. Hopefully with the work and focus I know we are all bringing to the table for November, we keep our trends moving in the blue direction and see a statewide win!
I shared an early version of this with folks from the party in December 2022. I don’t think they wanted to hear what I had to say. Maybe they are listening now (which is why I’m posting it publicly)

I will also mention you list our 2000 numbers for Republicans. Our bottom was actually the 2012 election (yes, with Barack Obama!) which was 79.5% R.

I hope someone brings this up at the convention.
You have given us the roadmap! Let's do this!
Zapata County has been historically a democrat stronghold- except for 2020. Shouldn’t it be on your radar?
Are you sharing this information with the State Party? Are they listening?
