Chris, I sent your Substack to all my church friends in Grapevine. PCUSA though we aren't speaking out very well. Pastor tries hard to straddle the sides, calling out hate but refusing to clearly name it. Anyway one of my friends replied to my sending of your email with this: "My granddaughters are in this ground zero area of Aledo and Granbury. They talk about Kirk and turning point in class and the kids wear Christian national shirts. It is hard to fight this."
It is hard to fight this. We felt it every day in Granbury. The people pushing this are loud and seem to move like a school of fish. The only way to push back is to gather our voices to create our own chorus of speaking the truth of things. We don’t have to be louder individually, we need our volume to be collective. That’s our power if we choose to claim it. I think we can. It just takes brave folks to step forward and others will follow.
Again, thanks for using your platform however you can. We do this together, and every step helps.
Living in a place where I have been told by my long-time neighbor that my child should just carry a passport should they *unlawfully* be attacked by *our* government instead of my neighbor realizing that my child shouldn't be required to plan ahead for when their rights are unlawfully violated. It's insane that my neighbor thought they were helping. Anyway I very much appreciate when someone simply says, 'Here's the history that proves that you are wrong.'
